What is mole?
A mole is a common type of skin growth, also known as nevi, often appearing as a small dark brown spot caused by clusters of pigment forming cells known as melanocytes. Most of us have around 10 to 45 moles on our body which appear during our childhood and teenage years. The way a mole looks may change over time, for example fade or become darker.
Most moles are harmless and therefore usually nothing to worry about. If a mole is none cancerous you don’t need to have it removed, that is unless it bothers you; if you don’t like the way if affects you’re appearance or if it is becoming irritating by rubbing or catching on your clothing, then cosmetic mole removal treatment is an option.
Usually the NHS will only remove a mole for medical reasons (non cosmetic), therefore you should visit your GP to find out more about your mole.
Once we have received confirmation from your GP that your mole is non threatening, we can discuss treatment options for cosmetic removal at our award winner medical skincare clinic.

How is a mole removed?
At Revitalise Skincare Clinic we use BT Plasma Surgical – an advanced atmospheric pressure plasma technology to deliver a wide range of bespoke treatments – including mole removal.
Plasma is an ionised gas with electrical energy which works throughout the surface of the skin to the epidermal layer. The body has three layers of skin; the epidermis is the outermost layer of skin in your body. The other two layers of skin are the dermis and hypodermis. The epidermis is the thinnest layer of skin and is responsible for protecting you from the outside world. The treatment uses a process known as ‘sublimation ‘(vaporisation of the cells that form the mole) which triggers collagen renewal.
Before we carry out the BT Plasma Surgical treatment to your mole, a local anaesthetic will be injected into the area. This will ensure you do not feel any discomfort whilst the procedure is being carried out. Once the treatment is complete, we will advise you on after care and provide you with an information sheet to take home for reference.
You will be invited back to the clinic a week or two later so we can review the results of the treatment. Usually mole removal is successful after one treatment but in some cases further treatment may be required in order to achieve optimum results.
Why choose plasma surgical?
Quick, convenient, pain free and scar free mole removal with little downtime.
Revitalise Skincare Clinic recommend:
- Always wear an SPF, even on dull days, to protect your skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Children not protected from sun exposure are more likely to grow more moles.
- Check your skin frequently. The more aware you are of your skin, the more likely it is that you will quickly spot any changes.
- Has your mole changed in size, shape or colour?
- Has your mole become painful or itchy?
- Has your mole become inflamed, started bleeding or is crusty?
- Does your mole look unusual and has not gone away after a few weeks?
- Do be aware of the ABCDE rule:
-
- Asymmetrical
- Border
- Colour
- Diameter
- Evolving.
