Under Arm Excess Sweating – Botox

Botulinum toxin can also be used to treat primary hyperhidrosis – a condition of underarm excessive sweating which affects approximately 1% of the population, and can be socially embarrassing.

The treatment consists of relatively painless injections into the skin which decreases the production of sweat from the sweat glands in the area treated.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Botox?

Botox, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, is a neurotoxic protein that has found widespread use in medical and cosmetic applications. Botox has become a popular treatment for various conditions. It is primarily known for its ability to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

How does Botox work?

Botox involves injecting small amounts of the toxin directly into facial muscles responsible for creating wrinkles and expression lines. By inhibiting muscle contractions, Botox can smooth out wrinkles. This is particularly true for those caused by repetitive facial movements such as smiling, frowning, or squinting.

Common areas treated with Botox include forehead lines, crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes), and frown lines between the eyebrows.

Furthermore, Botox has gained acceptance in treating certain medical conditions. It has been approved for managing chronic migraines in adults, with injections administered every few months to help prevent them or reduce their frequency and severity.

Additionally, Botox can be used to address excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) – see above – by blocking the release of the chemical messenger that stimulates sweat glands. Thus reducing perspiration in treated areas.

How many treatments will you need?

Botox is a temporary solution, and the effects typically last for three to six months. However, individual results may vary. Regular treatments can help maintain the desired appearance over time. When you come in for your treatment we can talk to you about a plan moving forward. It is usually a good idea to have more treatments in the first year and then less in subsequent years. As the effects of Botox wear off gradually, there is no sudden change or “rebound” effect on the skin. This makes it a great option for those seeking an adjustable and non-permanent solution to their cosmetic concerns.

Is Botox a painful procedure?

The procedure for administering Botox is relatively quick and minimally invasive. At Revitalise Skincare Clinic we have worked with hundreds of patients. Our medically trained staff ensure you are always in the best of hands.

A fine needle is used to inject Botox into specific muscles. Targeting precise areas to achieve the desired cosmetic or therapeutic effects. While the injections themselves may cause minor discomfort or temporary redness at the injection site, most patients tolerate the procedure well. They can usually resume normal activities immediately afterwards.

How soon will I notice the results?

The effects of Botox typically become noticeable within a few days to a week after treatment. The results last anywhere from three to six months, depending on individual factors such as metabolism, muscle activity, and the dose administered. As the effects gradually wear off, repeat injections are necessary to maintain the desired outcome.

What is Baby Botox and do you offer it?

Baby Botox is also known as “micro-Botox” or “preventative Botox”. It is a cosmetic procedure gaining popularity in recent years, especially among younger adults seeking to maintain a youthful appearance.

It involves using Botox in smaller and more diluted doses compared to traditional Botox injections.

The concept of Baby Botox is to prevent the formation of wrinkles rather than just treating existing ones. It involves injecting smaller amounts of Botox into targeted facial muscles. These are typically in areas prone to dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions, such as the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (frown lines).

The primary difference between Baby Botox and traditional Botox lies in the dosage and administration technique. At Revitalise Skincare Clinic our expert practitioners can help you work out the right treatment plan for you.

We are renowned for our treatments giving a more natural-looking look.

Baby Botox is generally for individuals in their 20s and 30s who may not yet have significant signs of ageing but wish to delay their onset. By starting treatments earlier, they can potentially slow down the formation of wrinkles and preserve a youthful appearance for longer periods.

Additionally, this treatment has minimal downtime and relatively quick procedure time. Patients can typically resume their daily activities immediately after treatment, as side effects such as redness or swelling are usually mild and temporary.

However, it’s essential for individuals considering Baby Botox to consult with a qualified and experienced medical professional, such as through Revitalise Skincare Clinic to determine whether it’s the right option for them. The procedure is generally safe when performed by skilled practitioners, there are risks associated with any cosmetic treatment.

What about aftercare for Botox?

It’s best to avoid lying down for around four hours after treatment and avoid pain medication. You should also stay away from strenuous activity such as the gym and try to avoid wearing makeup for at least 12 hours. With a few exceptions, you should be able to get back to your routine.
