If you’re curious about enhancing your upper lip subtly without dermal fillers, a Botox lip flip might be the right treatment for you. At Revitalise Skincare Clinic all our injectable treatments are performed by our expert Medical Practitioners in both our Bath and Wiltshire clinics. We provide safe and expertly administered lip flip treatments to help you achieve a natural look with added confidence.
What exactly is a lip flip?
A Botox lip flip involves injecting a tiny amount of Botox into the muscle around the top lip. By relaxing this muscle slightly, the upper lip gently ‘flips’ outward, revealing more of the surface of the lip. This technique doesn’t increase lip volume, but instead enhances shape and visibility of the lip making it ideal for individuals who want a subtle boost in lip definition and a more natural looking alternative to dermal fillers.

What are the benefits of Botox Lip Flip treatment?
There are many benefits to having Botox lip flip treatment, some of the main benefits include:
- A quick, non-invasive treatment
- More cost effective than dermal fillers
- Will not cause a drastic change to the look of your lips
- A subtle and natural looking enhancement
- Increases lip definition
- Improves lip symmetry
- Minimal downtime – you can resume your normal daily activities shortly afterwards
- Fast result – you can expect to see subtle changes in just a few days, with full results after 2 weeks
How long do the results last?
Lip flip results typically last 8-12 weeks, however it can last longer on some individuals. The effects wear off quicker than other areas injected with Botox due to the small amount of Botox used and the delicacy of the lip muscles.
Is a lip flip right for you?
You should consider a Botox lip flip if:
- You already have some natural volume in your lips but want to enhance the shape
- You want to correct a gummy smile or enhance upper lip prominence
- Your lips disappear when you talk and smile
- You prefer a more non-invasive option compared to dermal fillers
While both dermal fillers and lip flip treatments enhance the lips, they work in different ways. If you already have a decent amount of volume in your lips but would like to alter the shape, a lip flip might be the better choice. However if you are looking for added volume and longer-lasting results, then lip fillers may be what you’re looking for.

Frequently asked questions-
When will I see the results of my treatment?
Following a lip flip, you should begin to see results within a few days. There should be continued improvement for several days after that. The full effect will be seen ten to fourteen days post procedure. Lip flips are not permanent, results last around three months and may vary from person to person. Once you start to notice the effects are wearing off, you can maintain your result by having additional Botox injections.
Will my speech be normal after a lip flip?
Your upper lip may feel numb after your injection. You should be able to talk, kiss and smile as normal. However, you may dribble your drinks and coffee at first – just until you have adjusted to the effects. Lip flip Botox treatment does not affect smiling, it will bring the upper lip outward to create an appearance of more volume.
Does kissing affect lip flip?
It is recommended that kissing should be avoided for a minimum of four hours after treatment. However, refrain from passionate kissing for a couple of days after the lip flip Botox treatment if possible.
