Scarring – whether from acne, surgery, injury or skin conditions can affect individual confidence. Many people searching for effective scar treatments want results without surgery or long downtime. One treatment that’s gaining attention is Vivace RF microneedling.

At Revitalise Skincare Clinic we’re often asked whether Vivace RF microneedling can help improve the appearance of scarring. In this blog post, we are going to explain how Vivace works, what types of scarring it can help with and what results you can expect.

What is Vivace RF microneedling?

Vivace RF microneedling is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines:

  • Microneedling – ultra fine needles that create controlled micro-injuries
  • Radio frequency (RF) energy delivered deep into the skin

Unlike traditional microneedling, Vivace delivers RF energy directly into the deeper layers of the skin, where scars form. This makes it particularly effective for textural irregularities and indented scars.

We use the Vivace device for all our RF Microneedling procedures. When the pins of this device enter the skin, they transmit radio frequency energy through multiple levels of the skin. Through this process, the skin receives both a controlled physical injury, (as you do with all Microneedling devices), plus the added effect of heat. This dual effect in multiple layers of the skin creates dramatic collagen production and skin tightening.

Can Vivace RF microneedling help with scarring?

Scars form when collagen is damaged or produced unevenly during healing. Vivace RF microneedling targets this problem in several ways.

  • The radio frequency energy heats the dermis, triggering your body’s natural collagen and elastin production – essential for smoothing scar tissue.
  • Microneedling breaks down old, rigid scar tissue while encouraging healthier skin regeneration.
  • Over time, scars appear softer, smoother and less noticeable as the skin becomes more even.
  • Vivace reaches depths that topical products and standard facials simply can’t.

Vivace RF microneedling can be effective for several types of scars, including:

1. Acne scars – especially rolling scars, boxcar scars and mild to moderate atrophied scars. It is less effective for very deep ice pick scars, through improvement can still be seen with a treatment course.

2. Surgical scars – Vivace can help with softening and smoothing surgical scars once they are fully healed.

3. Trauma or injury scars – scars from cuts or accidents may appear flatter and less visible over time.

4. As a form of scarring, stretch marks can also respond well to RF microneedling.

Vivace is suitable for use on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands, making it a versatile treatment option for addressing a wide range of skin concerns. Whether targeting specific problem areas or achieving overall skin rejuvenation, Vivace can be customized to meet individual patient needs.

What results can you expect?

Results can vary depending on scar type and depth, skin condition, number of treatments and individual healing response. Typical improvements include smoother skin texture, reduced depth of indented scars, more even skin tone and overall healthier looking skin.

Many clients begin to notice improvement after 2-3 sessions, with continued collagen production for several months after treatment.

A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to ensure it is as comfortable as possible. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild pressure or warmth. Vivace RF microneedling incorporates a built-in cooling system that helps to keep the skin surface cool during treatment, reducing discomfort and enhancing patient comfort. Compared to other RF microneedling devices, Vivace is considered one of the most comfortable options available.

How many treatments of Vivace RF microneedling will I need?

For scar treatment we usually recommend a course of 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. At Revitalise Skincare Clinic, prior to all treatment we offer a personalised consultation with our Medical practitioner. She will be able to create a tailored treatment plan for you based on your skin type, area of concern and desired outcome.

Downtime after Vivace treatment is minimal, which is one of the reasons the treatment is so popular. You may experience mild redness for 24-48 hours post treatment, mild swelling and slight skin dryness are also possible. Most patients return to their normal activities 1-2 days after treatment.
